According to the latest study, compared to a complicated way to lose weight, a new way that simply focused on increasing fiber intake has the same effect. Dietary fiber may be the key to help people lose weight in a simple way.
240 adults who were at risk for developing type 2 diabetes took part. Half were assigned to simply increase their fiber intake to at least 30 grams per day. The remainder were asked to follow the AHA diet, which includes 13 components from limiting calories, reducing sugar and choosing lean proteins to eating more fruits, vegetables and whole grains, as well as consuming adequate fiber. The researcher of this study found, after 12 months, people followed by the AHA diet advice lost an average of six pounds, and fiber intaked people lost an average of 4.6 pounds.
Although AHA diet advice make them lose much more weight, researchers also believes that this study shows a simple and effective diet research for weight loss. No matter for what purpose, increasing fiber intake is a good idea. Last year, British medical journal published a study, dietary fiber can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease and coronary heart disease.
